Nicole Jackson

Growing up in the small town of Amelia, Va, Coach Nicole started playing basketball at an early age. Nicole’s father and step-father introduced her to the game at an early age. Nicole’s step-father bought a Fisher-Price basketball hoop during her toddler years, from there the seed was planted. Nicole’s father was the middle school girl’s basketball coach. On Saturday mornings, he would open the gym for Nicole to work on her craft. “I remember before middle school try-outs, my dad told me that he would have to be a little tougher on me because if I made the team, it couldn’t be because I was his daughter.”

Nicole played high school basketball under Coach Robin Gary.  Ms. Gary had a huge impact on Nicole’s playing career. She encouraged Nicole to play AAU basketball in the Richmond area in order to compete at a higher level and understand the work ethic that it would take to make it to the next level. Nicole was not heavily recruited out of high school. In her last year of high school basketball, Nicole received an offer to play at Lees-McRae College, a small D2 school in Banner Elk, NC.

After graduating, Nicole returned home and began skills training. Over the last 7 years, Nicole has had the opportunity to work and learn from some of the area’s top girls and boys high school players, as well as professionals.

“Developing relationships is the name of the game. If each player knows that I believe in their growth and ability, that’s all it takes. Belief is everything. Make ‘em believe.”
